WORKSHOP: Get Ready for the Holidays with Tamales & Wreaths
Tuesday, November 26, 2013 • 10:30am–1pm

Tamales & wreaths

TWO WORKSHOPS IN ONE, PLUS LUNCH!
Start out the morning learning to make tamales!
We’ll do some of the work for you by preparing the masa dough and fillings (one vegetarian, one meat); you’ll learn to roll and tie the tamales in different ways. We’ll put the prepared tamales on to steam while making our wreaths.

Make a 12" wreath!
During the second part of this workshop each participant will make a 12" wreath to take home. Please bring a variety of greens to use and share: bay, rosemary, eucalyptus, cedar, juniper, holly, pine cones, California pepper, berries, magnolia leaves, plume grasses, lavender, etc. See complete materials list (pdf)

Enjoy a delicious tamale lunch!
Hot out of the steamer, we’ll enjoy our fresh tamales (there will probably be enough for everyone to take some home, too), black beans and salad.

DETAILS
When: Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 • 10:30am–1pm
Where: Corte Madera Community Center, 498 Tamalpais Drive, Corte Madera, CA 94925
How much: $5 for members; $25/person non-members (membership is just $20, and you'll get the member rate for all workshops through June 2014). This includes recipes, tamale lunch, a wreath form, ribbon and some greens.
What to bring: It would be helpful this year for each participant to BRING greens, berries, etc. for wreaths, both to use and share.
