WORKSHOP: TWO-COLOR KNITTING
Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011
Do you know how to knit and purl but would like to expand your knitting knowledge? In this workshop, you'll learn how to read a graph for a multicolor pattern AND how to manage two different colored yarn strands while knitting. You'll make a patterned square that can be fashioned into a potholder or eyeglass case. While this will be a simple project that can probably be finished during the workshop, it will give you the skills and confidence needed to create more complicated pieces. Incorporating this technique in garments makes them both decorative and exceptionally warm, since the extra yarn adds insulation. It's a great opportunity to learn this technique from a patient and experienced knitter! Please RSVP to workshops@cmwomensclub.org by ; call Marge at 488-1435 if you have any questions.
REQUIRED to bring:
- 1 pair knitting needles (size 4, 5 or 6)
OPTIONAL to bring:
- While yarn will be provided, if you have any in favorite colors, bring them (sport-weight only, please; this project will only require a couple of ounces of each color).
- Bring a sack lunch if you think you'll get hungry!
NOTES:
- You'll need BASIC experience: how to cast on, knit, and purl (you don't have to be an expert, but you should know these basic stitches).
- If you don't finish, or if you want additional help with this or another knitting project, please come to "Bring Your Own Project" day the following week (Oct. 4), for a followup and to have any questions answered.
