WORKSHOP: Making Valentines

Tuesday, January 26, 2010
In this workshop, participants made beautiful valentines and/or notecards using a variety of materials, including paper, beads, feathers and more. Facilitator Kimberly Powell provided books, samples and materials that jump-started everyone’s creativity. Items included small dried wild flowers, small beads, small ribbons, rice papers, colored papers, tissue papers, music paper, glitter pens and glitter, lace, trim, small feathers, strings, very small sea shells, old stamps… anything small and beautiful!

If you couldn’t make it to the workshop, or if you did, but didn’t get to do everything and want to try some other techniques at home, here are some links of things to try.
— “Pocket Valentine” pattern & instructions (pdf)
The following can be found (among other ideas) at MarthaStewart.com
— “Cobweb Valentine” pattern & instructions
— “Antique Valentine” (aka “puzzle” or “purse”) folding instructions
Scherenschnitte Heart” (papercut) template & instructions

Let us know if you find other wonderful ideas. We can post them here, too!
