PROGRAM: Twin Cities Update
At this program, the following people gave short presentations to the 40+ attendees:
- Officer Don Hinton, Twin Cities Police Dept: Update on status of new police station, move and services
- Jana Haehl: Corte Madera Community Center patio renovations
- Cheryl Longinotti: Bike corridor improvements & proposed re-opening of the Alto Tunnel
- Kathy Hartzell: Status of Larkspur city manager search, proposed Corbet’s move, and Niven property

The Twin Cities Police Dept. is moving this week to their temporary headquarters on Paradise Drive. Services will continue as before, but dispatch will be routed through San Anselmo. The TCPD should be completely out of the old building by February. (Watch for SWAT team exercises at the old building in February!) Teardown and removal of materials will be completed by April, when construction is expected to commence, and last about 18 months. They plan to move into their new, finished building by June 2012. Officer Hinton also commented that they are conducting ongoing pedestrian and bicycle “stings,” and they have some new radar devices – so watch your speed when you drive!

Read about the Mill Valley-Corte Madera Corridor Study, which evaluates the three alternative pedestrian/bicycle routes between Mill Valley & Corte Madera including:
(1) the Horse Hill/Alto Hill Pathway and connecting roadways,
(2) reopening the Alto Tunnel for bike and pedestrian use, and
(3) the Camino Alto/Corte Madera Avenue on-street route.
The Draft CM-MV Corridor Gap Report is available at the Mill Valley and Corte Madera libraries. The full document and additional information can also be downloaded from http://www.walkbikemarin.org/projects_millvalley.php.
—> The deadline for comments on the three route alternatives is JANUARY 29, 2010. Comments should be emailed to Carey Lando, Senior Transportation Planner, Marin County Dept. of Public Works at Clando@co.marin.ca.us

Larkspur News
(1) City Manager: There will be a community meeting on Wed. Jan. 13, at 7:30pm as an opportunity for Larkspur residents to offer their input as to the attributes and qualities they would like to have in Larkspur’s new city manager.
(2) Corbet’s (formally known as “800 Magnolia Ave.”): At the City Council meeting on Jan. 13 (after the City Manager discussion), discussion of the amendments to the ordinance that would allow Corbet’s to move to 800 Magnolia Ave. (old bank building) is on the agenda. Kathy anticipates it will pass, as most of the work has been discussed and approved previously.
(3) Niven property. Kathy showed us the massive(!) amount of material she has to go through for the upcoming meeting. Final approval is closer than it was 10 years ago, but there are still sticking points, namely trees (what to keep and what to remove), removal of toxics from the soil, and what to do with any Native American or other archeological finds. It is anyone’s guess when final approval will come, or when construction could start if a developer makes an application after final approval.
